The Amazon Animal Orphanage in Iquitos, Peru. The Orphanage, an official "Centre of Custory" for abandoned and sometimes endangered animals, was established by Gudrun Sperrer and Roblar Moreno who also operate Pilpintuwasi Butterfly Farm. The Orphanage developed by "default." Gudrun and Roblar initially wanted to show the lifecycle of butterflies. Tourists and visitors began bringing abandoned and injured animals to them, starting with Pedro Bello, the Jaguar above. Now they have one of the most amazing orphanages imaginable . . . with owl monkeys, marmosets, red Uacaries, capuchins, howler monkeys, anteaters (who have beautiful fur!). . . We have just completely redesigned that site. Please stop by there and please support endangered animals!
